Marines Boost Local Economy in Papua with Heartwarming Community Support

Yahukimo - The Infantry Battalion 6 Marines, part of the Indonesian Armed Forces, recently made a positive impact in Muara Village, Yahukimo Regency, Papua. On October 14, 2024, during their routine patrols along the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border, the Marines participated in the “ROSITA” program, which supports local farmers by purchasing their products at the Muara Market.

Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung, the commander of the Marines Task Forces, encouraged his soldiers to engage with the community and help improve their economy. Led by First Lieutenant Nico, the patrol team took this message to heart by buying farming goods from local vendors.

Local seller Mama Ester Hanuebi expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Bapak Tentara, for buying our farming products. God bless.” The soldiers’ purchases not only helped boost the sellers’ income but also strengthened the bond between the military and the community.

Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, the HABEMA Commanding General, praised the Marines’ efforts, noting their commitment to supporting the local economy and contributing to the region's development. His recognition highlights the importance of such initiatives in fostering hope and positivity within the community.

The Marines’ actions are a shining example of how security forces can play a vital role in uplifting local communities, paving the way for a brighter future in Papua.
